Yo Recovery

It has been a long 6 weeks. Nurturing a broken foot is, as I have found out recently no small thing. I have new respect for the little toe! Because of the nature of my injury, it was extremely difficult to do the Sun Salutations that I have learned to love so much. Yesterday I got in 5 sets, which is half of what I prefer to do. I completed 3 walks, which was 9 miles in 4days and rode my bike 26 miles over the weekend. So, I feel I am well on my way to recovery.

At this stage it isn’t unusual for me to push too hard and set myself back. Not this time. I have slowed down my pace when doing the Sun Salutation, concentrated on deep breathing, and breathing my way thru the postures with purposefulness that I don’t normally incorporate so intensely. And paying attention to the injured area I focused on healing. Pushing to the limit my stretching without pushing past my comfort zone, that is the art of healing ones self. It is a fine line and all you have to do is listen closely to what your body is experiencing.

Yoga helps us tune into our organs, glands, and muscles in a way which no other form of exercise allows. Holding positions and gaining from each as we go gracefully thru the series is what makes the magic happen. The rewards are immediate. You feel better as soon as you finish and the effects will last through out the day.

When I am in the recovery stage and I cannot do my Yoga, my body reminds me how good it is for me and how much I truly benefit from it. This stage won’t last forever. Taking extra Vitamin D and Isotonix Calcium helps speed up the process and I will be back to my 10sets in no time. My foot will heal and I will be climbing once more.
