Is Yo Diet Spiritual Enough For Yo?
There is an old saying, "we are what we eat!" Old, as in the late sixties! Some people hear it and make fun, think of it as a joke. But,... we all know it is true the moment we hear it. So, how comes we don’t act on it? Why don't we, right then and there, stop eating animal? How comes we don't take these word to heart and really think about what’s been said?
The reality of this simple statement goes beyond just the physical repercussions of what we eat, it goes to our mental, emotional and spiritual health. When we kill an animal certain chemicals from the brain of the animal flood into the blood supply, to the muscles, and the organs of the animal body. Then we eat it 3 months later? Chemicals emitted from the brain are present in the meat, such as adrenaline, cortisol, endo-morphines, and ACTH. You literally eat the last "thought" the animal had. That is why so much of the population is angry, violent, anxious, depressed and afraid. We eat the cows "consciousnes" when we eat the flesh. You can boil it, bake it, or charcoal it, whatever you want to do... .those chemicals are part of the meat the same as any nutrient or protein that might be left. People wonder why they feel sluggish and dreary, as if they are looking at life through foggy glasses. Many are trying to wake up from night before and not able to fall asleep, because of what they have put into their bodies.
From a Spiritual aspect, it is flat out wrong. I have many spiritually gifted people. They all sincerely want to help their fellow humans (and animals in some cases) and the World in any way they can. Although their motives are correct, their bodies are not able to utilize all their energies because of what they are eating. In other word, they could be more powerful in the healing if they weren’t eating flesh. The body is the transmitter of energies. It can be tuned to a still higher vibration without the course, dense matter of meat in it. Same as would apply to drugs. You would become a more powerful healer if you weren’t using drugs or mind/mood altering substances. Being obese, or just very overweight, will interfere with your ability to heal. The dense matter and poisons surrounding the solar plexus and heart chakra is an obstruction of pure energy. If not for any other reason, it “houses” the thoughts, emotions, toxins, of both you and the animal. When we work with energies we want to raise the levels as high as we are capable of doing. You will accomplish your maximum potential without the dense matter of animal flesh in your body.
The taking of a life, regardless of circumstance is wrong. If the object of Spiritual Living is harmlessness, as is generally accepted as a first step, eating meat is out of the question. You cannot participate in the slaughter of an animal or support the farming of animals when you have other choices. We do not live in a World where we must kill or die. That is an outdated, ancient history option. We can live and thrive in the World without killing, it is our Spiritual responsibility not to support cruelty. In the modern World we can all choose a more humane lifestyle. So, you cannot claim to be harmless or work to heal animals while you are killing them and eating them. There isn’t much wiggle room here. As inconvenient as that may be for some, as much as they might argue, deep down inside everyone who eats meat knows it is wrong. Eating meat-by products is flat out killing us all with “diseases of affluence”, heart attack, stroke, arthritis, cancer, all preventable through diet. A good “Yogi never hurts themselves”, is the first rule to the practice of Yoga. Same goes for smoking cigarettes, nicotine is a poison and no healer ought be killing themselves. Purifying the body is the first of many steps the Spiritualist/Healer must take to fulfill their potential.
On the emotional health side of meat eating: Human fat has become animal fat. And that probably has a lot to do with why we get cancer and the sky rocketing amounts of anti-depressant drugs being prescribed. The present day food chain has been corrupted by pesticides, chemical fertilizers, hormones, steroids, and hundreds of toxins. When we consume these toxins our bodies become toxic as well, along with our emotions and ability to think. If sugar can cause us to get a “high” and salt can cause our blood pressure to increase, just imagine what all these chemicals do? Some research suggests that people become overweight because they suffer from chronic fatigue (they feel tired) and use food to stay awake! But, it is the food that is causing you to feel heavy and weighted down. If you are overweight the chances are that you don’t feel as well as you could and are caught up in the cycle of depression. We cannot reach our potential when we are not feeling our best. And, to whatever we degree we are helping others, we can do better by not hurting ourselves.
Hope that this reminder will help you in your determination to be the best you can be and to continue to help others. We cannot expect perfection from ourselves or others, what we can expect is that everyone does the best they can with what they have. You can use your natural instinct to help guide you to better health by eliminating meat, toxins, and poisons. Your potential will increase and you will be more capable of dealing with increased levels of energy. That will benefit the World, everyone around you, and your ability to help others.
